Mass rally

KALMUNAI: Muttur declaration and a mass rally was held by the Muslims of the Eastern Province against the eviction of Muslims from Muttur by the LTTE last Wednesday.

Responding to the call of All Mosque Federation of the Eastern Province, thousands of Muslims of all categories from Ampara and Batticaloa Districts thronged to the Kalmunai Grounds to participate in the declaration and special "Thuwa" for peace and harmony of the country.

The declarations says: "We urge the Government to immediately appoint a commission comprising three supreme and appeal Court judges to inquire into the affairs that led to the massacre and forcible eviction of the Muslims in Muttur and Thopur.
