GAMPOLA: The Gampola Base Hospital's Rs. 25 million emergency
care unit with the latest technology was opened by Posts,
Telecommunication and Rural Development Minister D.M. Jayaratne on
August 10.
The unit enables to attend to accurate oxygen supplies, rapid blood
testing cum blood reports and provides gas for emergency operations
supplied by an intricate network of pipelines.
Apart from the Emergency Care Unit, the additional building hosts an
Out Door Patient section, an Intensive Care Unit and other sections.
For the construction of the unit, primary aid was given by an
Australian Organisation, MEDICOP and various other institutions.
Jayaratne who has also allocated money from his de-centralised budget
to develop the hospital thanked Saudi Arabia for the aid they had
provided to make the new addition at the Hospital.
The Gampola Base Hospital had followed the Base Hospitals at
Melbourne and Sydney, Australia. The new unit would provide immediate
treatment to patients. The Gampola Base Hospital is one of the main
hospitals in the Central Province.
The Minister was optimistic that the new addition to the hospital
would help reduce the congestion that patients and the medical staff
faced in the past. |
