Government requests LTTE cadres to surrender to Security Forces
COLOMBO: The Government requested all child recruits and other LTTE
cadres to surrender to the nearest Security Forces camps or Police
Stations. The Government will also take full responsibility for their
safety, the Media Centre for National Security, Ministry of Defence,
Public Security, Law and Order said in a release.
The release said the Government was also making arrangements to
handover surrendering youth to their parents after rehabilitation.
The full text of the press release: "Information reaching Security
Forces confirm that LTTE cadres are deserting their organisation,
despite their leadership's orders following LTTE's continuous defeats
against the Security Forces in the confrontations in Muttur, Mavilaru
and Jaffna during the past few days.
Security Forces confirm that there are many child recruits among the
LTTE cadres killed in the confrontations that took place during the last
48 hours. A large number of LTTE cadres in the East have already
deserted the organisation.
Deserting LTTE cadres have requested security from the Government
both directly and indirectly through civil representatives.
The Government requests all child recruits and other LTTE cadres to
