KOTTE: Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera yesterday thanked
all political parties in Parliament for supporting the Government to
name the Institute of Strategic Studies of Sri Lanka after the late
Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar on the eve of his first death
anniversary.
The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of Strategic Studies and
International Relations as the Institute will be hence known is a
tribute to a man who worked relentlessly to find a just and fair
solution to the national problem in Sri Lanka, Samaraweera told
Parliament yesterday.
He said: "Minister Kadirgamar worked tirelessly to safeguard the
sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country," and added that
it was a dream of the late Minister to establish an Institute where Sri
Lanka's International relations could be studied in-depth.
The Minister said the Institute will conduct extensive studies in the
field of International relations, post conflict scenarios and other
vital branches of International relations and National Security. |
