Ready for International Buddhist Conference, says DN
KANDY: All arrangements for the holding of the 2550 Buddha
Jayanthi International Buddhist Conference at International Buddhist
Research and Training Centre, Pallekele, Kandy, on August 11 and 12 have
been finalised, says Pradeep Nilanga Delabandara, the Diyawadana Nilame
of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy.
According to Diyawadana Nilame, more than 400 Buddhist delegates
representing 22 countries including India, Thailand, China, Taiwan and
Korea are expected to participate in the Conference.
The inauguration of the conference is scheduled to begin at 8.30 a.m.
on August 11 under the joint patronage of the two Mahanayake Theras of
the Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters and President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The foreign Buddhist delegates who participate in the Conference are
scheduled to arrive in the island on August 09.
The Sri Dalada Maligawa authorities have made arrangements for them
to view the final Randoli Perahera of the Esala Festival on August 09.
