Stamp in memory of Kadirgamar
COLOMBO:
The Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts will issue a new
postage stamp in the denomination of Rs. 10 tomorrow to commemorate the
late Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar. The stamp has been designed
by Vasantha Srinath Kurukulasooriya.
The official first day cancellation of this stamp will take place at
the Sri Lanka Institute of International Studies, Horton Place, Colombo
7 with the participation of Posts and Telecommunications and Rural
Economic Development Minister D.M. Jayaratne, Foreign Employment
Promotion Minister and Posts and Telecommunications Deputy Minister
Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
Meanwhile, the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies in
conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will conduct the first
Lakshman Kadirgamar Memorial Lecture tomorrow from 6.00 p.m. at
Committee Room 'A' of the BMICH.
The First Memorial Lecture titled 'India and Sri Lanka: Friends and
Neighbours' will be delivered by Dr. Karan Singh, President of the
Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Minister Samaraweera will chair
the meeting. |
