Helping Tsunami affected libraries

COLOMBO: The National Library and Documentation Services Board (NLDSB) will extend its Tsunami Library Development Project by provision of library furniture and books to 21 damaged public libraries in t he western, southern and north-east provinces.

Library furniture and books valued at Rs. 15 million will be handed over to the local authorities by Education Minister Susil Premajayantha at a ceremony at the NLDSB auditorium on August 8, 2006.

The furniture to be distributed at the function includes reading tables, reading chairs, book-racks, newspaper reading tables, book cupboards and easy reading chairs.

Sinhala and Tamil books will also be handed over to libraries.
