District secys told to engage in field work two days a week
COLOMBO: All District Secretaries must engage in field work
two days a week to supervise whether the funds allocated for development
activities are utilised appropriately, Public Administration and Home
Affairs Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the District Secretaries and
Government Agents seminar at the Institute of the Sri Lanka Development
Administration, the Minister said the Government has allocated Rs. 4,600
million to develop under-developed Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
Dr. Amunugama said some field officers are in the habit of sitting
behind a table until people in need call on them at office.
"This habit seems to have infiltrated in to Grama Niladharies too,"
the Minister said. |
