Utilise foreign funds properly, Minister tells officials

TRINCOMALEE: Co-operatives and Co-operative Development Minister Abdul Majeed called upon officials to utilise funds for various projects with care and funds drawn from foreign organisations to be carefully utilised.

The Minister addressing the Trincomalee District Development Committee at the Trincomalee Kachcheri, said every possible effort will be taken to provide infrastructure facilities to areas affected by the conflict in the Trincomalee district.

He called upon State officials to extend their fullest co-operation to make this programme a success.

The Minister underlined the importance of shedding all the differences in preparing development programmes by Government officials.

The meeting was co-ordinated by Trincomalee Government Agent Major General Ranjith Silva.

It was decided at the meeting that projects under the decentralised budget and not submitted by parliamentarians yet to be requested to submit their programme of work as early as possible.

Urban Councils heads and Civil society representatives participated at the meeting.
