Apology to Prof. G.L. Peiris

The Daily News hereby tenders an apology to Prof. G.L. Peiris for the pain of mind caused to him consequent upon the publication of the article under the headline "Land Minister orders full probe into GL's alleged land grab" in the Daily News of June 17, 2004.

Prof. G.L. Peiris states that the allegations attributed expressly or impliedly in the said news items to him are incorrect and without any basis. Therefore, the Daily News hereby withdraws the allegations contained in the said news item.
