Dankotuwa shares boost the market
BOURSE: Both indices gained considerably yesterday mainly helped by
the changing hands of a large block of Dankotuwa Porcelain Ltd. which
contributed over Rs. 60 million to the day's turnover.
The All Share Price Index closed at 2,206.29 points gaining 14.95
points and the Milanka Price Index gained 20.84 points to close at
2,834.92 points. The turnover was Rs. 229 million with 16 million shares
being traded.
Over 5.6 million Dankotuwa shares traded yesterday and it was among
the top five gainers with the share closing at Rs. 11.
According to market rumours the high networth investor Dr. T.
Senthilverl who has been actively involved in the trading during the
last few days has once again bought 5.3 million shares of Dankotuwa
Porcelain at Rs.11.50 yesterday.
The block amounts to 10 percent stake of the company. Dr. Senthilverl
on Wednesday acquired more than 10 percent each of the issued share
capital of Lanka Tiles Ltd and Lanka Wall Tiles Ltd. 2.2 million shares
of Fortress Resorts also traded yesterday.
The share rose by one rupee to close at Rs.11. Nawaloka Hospitals,
Royal Ceramic, Tess Agro and Vanik were among other heavily traded
