Live cartridges found near road barricade

A Reserve Police Constable of the Kandy Police discovered T 56 type 30 live cartridges hidden near the traffic barricade at Heeressagala Junction last Saturday.

Kandy Police is conducting investigations to ascertain as to who was responsible for placing this haul of cartridges near the road barricade.

Meanwhile the Kumbal Perahera which is the first to inaugurate the Kandy Esala Festival is scheduled to start its journey to wend the streets around the Dalada Maligawa at the auspicious time of 7.05 p.m. facing South on Monday, July 31.
