Felicitation ceremony
KELANIYA: Professor K. Dharmasena, a master scholar, who was one time
the Vice Chancellor of the Kelaniya University and a Dean of the Faculty
of Social Sciences will be felicitated at a ceremony at the Senate Hall,
Kelaniya University, today at 4.30 p.m.
He has also functioned as the Head of the Economics Division of the
Kelaniya University.
Professor Dharmasena received his Doctorate from the London School of
Economics Institute. He is renowned as an expert researcher of the
Colombo Harbour.
Plans to set up cement grinding and packing factory

LUNUGAMWEHERA: Industrial Development Minister Kumara Welgama, said
at a preliminary discussion held with the programme officials recently
that the Industrial Development Ministry and the corporations, Boards
and Institutions under the purview of the Industrial Ministry will
provide their fullest assistance to the "Gamin Gamata Janapathi
Sathkaraka Seva" programme being implemented by the Presidential Public
Relations Unit.
Chemical Manufacturing Companies, corporations, Boards and other
institutes attending the meeting, agreed to select a special project in
the Lunugamwehera D.S. Division in order to provide material donations
such as cement, mineral sands, paper, cement phosphate fertilizer, tiles
and bricks using their connections.
Under the 300 Factories Programme also being implemented under this
Ministry, setting up of a Cement Grinding and Packing Factory in the
Lunugamwehera area, as a joint venture with the Lafarge Co. close to the
Hambantota Port was also discussed at the meeting. |
