Two tiered program to boost WPC hospitals

BETTER HEALTH SERVICES: A two step program has been started by the
Western Province Health Ministry to improve the quality of the hospitals
in the Western Province, by the end of this year, said the Provincial
Minister of Health Service, Prasanna Ranathunga, at a media conference
held recently.
At the conference the Minister stressed that the support of the Media
is necessary in order to let the public be aware of the on going
improvements made to the Health service.
To enable smooth cooperation between the Media and Hospitals under
the Western Provincial Council, the Minister mentioned that special
identity cards will be issued to journalists within the Western
Province, who wish to cover health related issues at these hospitals.
The Minister further explained that, under this new program
implemented under the 'Mahindha Chinthana', it wishes to provide the
health service with more funds and to increase the employment of doctors
and nurses, all in order to improve the Health Service so that the
public is not faced with lack of medical facilities.
At the conference, the Director of the Health Service, Western
Province, H.R. Upali Indrasiri, confirmed that the Government had
increased certain acts which will benefit the Health Service and make it
more efficient.
The Director of the Health Service in the Kalutara region, Anil
Dissanayake and Additional Provincial Health Service Director, B.D.S.
Ariyasinghe also attended the media briefing. |
