Investor welcomes proactive action to develop infrastructure
It is heartening to see that the leadership in this country is taking
pro-active steps to develop the infrastructure like roads, Port, said,
Advance Sri Lanka, CEO, Firoze Zia Hussain.
The CEO of this Indian based company said that solutions by
harnessing IT information technology are also actively used in all
sectors of the Government. "For example one can pay the electricity,
water bill just at the bank counter or on internet rather than having to
go physically," he said.
Export oriented units have a significant role in improving the dollar
earnings hence encouragement is extremely essential for any countries
sustenance.
Further, investments in core sectors like steel, petroleum, chemicals
and cement are considered indices of a economic progress. These sectors
apart from providing employment have a role in what is called as the
"multiplier effect."
"This is due to the lateral and vertical growth which they catalyse
just as a catalyst plays an important role in a chemical reaction," he
said.
Balance of economic development with environment management and usage
of three R's recycle, reuse, reduce if followed judiciously will lead to
formation of an environment and culture which all of cherish to be in.
Progress in this direction will also lead to a brain drain reversal,
a movement called as 'coming home'. However in order to attract this
Diaspora the overall scenario needs to change and follow growth oriented
