Sri Lanka cricket team out to maintain consistency - Moody
CRICKET: Sri Lankan coach Tom Moody stressed the importance of
maintaining their consistency in both forms of the game after their
successful tour of England which was concluded recently.
The former Australian test cap said that there is some very tough
cricket ahead of them and the team need to stay focused on the game if
they are to make an impact during the next World Cup which will be
staged in the Caribbean.
Moody paid tribute to the Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardena and
his team for a magnificent performance where they came from behind to
draw the three test series one all and followed up with a historic five
nil drubbing in the one day international series.
Moody said that the team has now done all the hard work and they just
need to play their natural game and continue with the good work on the
field. He said that the manner in which the team saved the first test
was really outstanding and very few teams could produce a performance of
that nature.
Moody said that they did make some experiments during the one day
international series but he made it clear that skipper Mahela
Jayawardena will bat in his usual position at number four in the
forthcoming test series against South Africa.
Moody also said that all five one day matches were played on good
batting tracks and that presently there seem to be a little impact on
the English wickets which are similar to the ones here at home.
He added that the entire Sri Lankan batting line up is quite talented
and are capable of facing the best of seam bowling which was an added
advantage during the tour.
