Massacre of the innocents

I saw your picture in the media
Holding your motherless Son
Like a retrieved priceless Jewel
From the gory hell of explosion

Oh! Father at least you Survived
To bestow parental Love

What about those orphaned infants
Who lost the warm milk of their cuddling mothers
Doting care and succour of their fondling fathers

You saw rows of death
With their faces stamped with horror
A grotesque tapestry of hideous design
Woven by blood dripping hand of the demon of terror
Midst wailing of the bereaved
Condoling President was moved to tears

Who were these massacred innocents
Prankish school children holding satchels of books
With their multiple wounds, still displaying innocence
Expectant mothers who missed their clinics
With the last thought of the baby in the womb

The descendants of the sturdy peasants
Who opted to remain when the tank kingdom collapsed
Who defied the encroaching jungle tide.

The demonic perpetrators of genocide
Blinded by arrogance of superior race
Of self proclaimed myths
Have committed this horrendous crime

Predator beast only kill to appease
Their gnowing hunger or in fear
So called human beast
Indulge in wanton killing.
To appease their blood-thirst

Where are the avenging gods?
With fiery eye brows of wrath
Flashing bolts of fire
To reduce the evildoers to ashes
They are in deep slumber
Encased in couches of soft clouds
Left to their mythical limbos

What is the end to this endless carnage?
Thank you big brother India for warm sympathy
Thank you West for your empty empathy
Let us fashion our destiny
Resorting to our glorious history

Let us exile the corrupted and petty politics
Let the valour skill and diplomacy
Of prince Kirthi and Konnappu Bandara
Be guiding stars to our Road to Success
Sri Lanka will arise
