Unique eco adventure at Thotupola
Anjana GAMAGE
PILIYANDALA: "Thotupola", an eco adventure hub at Delthara,
Piliyandala, is a place where you get a rare treat to observe and enjoy
the scenic view of the Bolgoda Lake - the biggest natural lake in Sri
Lanka.
At the "Thotupola" you will get the opportunity of a fresh gasp of
natural air instead of the highly polluted air in the Colombo city. It
is a place that keep yourself away from the constant rat race, which is
a part of stress and strain these days.
A group of journalists were able to get this unique experience on a
recent visit to the Thotupola, which is run by Wild Holidays owned by
Major Vijith Welikala. The visit was organised by Capt. Tilak Senanayake,
who is handling Public Relations at Wild Holidays.
"The word Thotupola is not a rare word to us. It is a place used by
people to cross a river or a lake. However at Thotupola we have
preserved that unique traditional nature which we had experienced during
the past," says Major Vijith Welikala.
He also admits that "Thotupola" is a place full of action unlike
other holiday resorts.
"What we have on offer is a special form of education coupled with an
exciting relaxation that is different from what is offered elsewhere. We
prefer to call it 'Inward Bound Training', a new experience fashioned in
utilizing modes of survival and self enlightenment techniques adopted by
mankind in the earlier times," Major Welikala said.
Taking these salient features into consideration, Wild Holidays (Pvt)
Ltd has designed to invite mild outdoor Eco adventure, Meditation, Yoga
and Ayurvedic programmers specially designed to the total attention on
the moment living awareness through an alert mind.
At Thotupola participants will transcend to total harmony with nature
experiencing the inner strength which will spur them to outdoor eco
adventure activities with foreign and locally trained experts and
Commando trained ex-servicemen.
