SriLankan fuels passenger traffic into Singapore
COLOMBO: SriLankan Airlines was among the top five airlines
that came up trumps in the inaugural ‘Changi Airline Awards’, for the
highest growth in passenger numbers into Singapore in 2005.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) awards recognised
the strong partnership between the Authority and over 80 airlines
operating to Changi Airport. The award also included a cash grant for
Singapore Dollars 474,805.25 under CAAS’ Growth Inventive scheme for
2005.
“It is a tribute highlighting the overall growth of the airline over
the year and we are keen to sustain the momentum across our network in
2006,” said SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Mr. Peter Hill.
SriLankan Airlines started its Singapore service in 1979 as AirLanka
Limited and was among the very first commercial routes in the airline’s
network.
SriLankan Airlines today operates 16 flights a week into Singapore
with daily direct services from Colombo, five weekly connections via
Kuala Lumpur and four code share services.
“We get a lot of Singaporeans visiting Sri Lanka and India during the
holidays. |
