Old Bens-futsal soccer champs

SOCCER: The Old Bens Sports Club won the annual futsal five-a-Side Soccer Championship which was held recently at the Astro Turf (Hockey Ground) at Reid Avenue, Colombo 07. The Club from Kotahena defeated Red Sun Sports Club from Gampola in the final.

The Championship was organized and conducted by FFSL. The championship was competed by twelve teams participating in the FFSL organised Kit Premier League Championship.

The winners Old Bens received the champions throphy and a cash award of Rs. 50,000, while the runners up Red Sun carried away Rs. 25,000.

The twelve teams participated in this tournament are Negombo Youth SC, Air force SC, Victory SC, Matara SC, New Youngs SC, Police SC, Ratnam SC, Army SC, Super Beach SC, Red Sun SC, Old Bens SC and Saunders SC.

Results; Quarter finals - Super beach beat Java Lane SC 2-1, Red Sun SC beat Negombo Youth SC 1-0, Old Bens SC beat Saunders SC 3-2, Army SC beat Air Force SC 3-2.

Semi finals; Red Sun SC beat Super Beach 3-2, Old Bens SC beat Army SC 4-3. Final Old Bens SC beat Red Sun SC 1-0.
