Sri Lanka Wi-Max enabled

COLOMBO: The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka has embarked on an ambitious program to facilitate the deployment of Wi-Max technology Countrywide.

With this deployment, high speed broadband connectivity would be made available at a nominal fee.

Applications closed on June 21 with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka for proposals, to provide this state-of-the-art technology to all corners of Sri Lanka.

The responses have been overwhelming and the intention of TRCSL is to have the major cities covered by Wi-Max by December 2006.
