Electricity for allaipiddi residents

Colombo: Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda said that he would take necessary steps immediately to supply electricity to Allaipiddi for the convenience of the residents.

The people have been undergoing severe hardships due to lack of electricity for the last 20 years.

The Minister added that this was a gesture of meeting with a promise he made to the displaced from Allaipiddi when they were temporarily sheltered at Jaffna Adaikalamatha and Navanthurai St. Nicholas Churchs recently.

He also said that he was taking necessary steps to pay compensation to the resettled Allaipiddi people for the properties they have lost.

In addition arrangements are made providing them with a proper transport system and a hospital for medical facilities, as these are totally lacking in this area at present.
