Sripathi to contest SLC top post

CRICKET: Minister Sripathi Sooriyarachchi will contest for the top seat of Sri Lanka Cricket at the forthcoming elections.

When contacted by the 'Daily News' last night, the Minister said that he has decided to come forward to unite all quarters and take Sri Lanka cricket forward.

Sooriyarachchi, one-time Deputy Minister of Sports, said there were many requests on the matter and hence, he decided to come forward and unite all quarters for the betterment of Sri Lanka cricket.

Several former Sri Lanka cricketers and past administrators have already pledged their support for Minister Sooriyarachchi, who is set to get the green light from the Sports Minister.
