Measures to proclaim National Policy on eradication of intoxicants

COLOMBO: President Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken steps to proclaim a National Policy on the misuse, eradication and control of intoxicants to coincide with the International Anti-alcoholic Day of June 26, this year, states National Dangerous Drugs Control Council Chairman, President's Counsel D. Mendis.

The National Policy on drugs is formulated in line with the concept of "Full-stop to alcoholism" contained under the Mahinda Chintanaya Policy.

Under the policy, steps will be taken to strictly enforce the laws relating to manufacture, import, transport, trade and use of intoxicants while expanding the activities relating to their eradication and control.
