Complaints to HRC

COLOMBO: The new Human Rights Commission is attempting to make the Commission efficient and has been focusing on illegal detention and on torture at the moment.

A complaint can be made on behalf of an aggrieved person stating the relevant facts as to the torture or illegal arrest.

There is a 24-hours service for complaints to be made. The telephone number is 011-2689064. The Investigating Officer will look into the matter and take relevant action immediately.

It is possible for a person to make a complaint to the Commission by fax No. 011-2694924 or come to the Commission in person.

The Investigation Department will take necessary action immediately, states a press release from the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.
