Pakistan gifts Computer Centre
COLOMBO: The All Ceylon YMMA Conference Pakistan Computer
Centre established at the National Headquarters Colombo was opened by
High Commissioner Bashir Wali Mohmand Hl, on June 16. This Modern
Computer Centre with advanced training facilities is a Pakistan
Government funded project.
This project is a continuation of President Musharraf, Prime Minister
Shaukat Aziz's policies to ensure basic education and health facilities
not only for people of Pakistan but also to be a part of global efforts
in prime public sector development especially in South Asia.
The allocation of Rs. 435 billion under the PSDP 2006-07 shows an
increase of 59.9% as compared to last years PSDP in Pakistan's Federal
budget. Government has allocated a sum of Rs. 84 billion in PSDP on a
special programme which includes Rs. 50 billion for Earthquake
Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority.
The key theme of Pakistan Government PSDP is 'development with
equity'. As the financial year 2006-07 is the 2nd year of MTDF (Medium
Term Development Framework), the PSDP is formulated with the objectives
to reduce poverty, achieving the MDGs ensuring equitable development of
regions and various social groups, empowering women and minimizing
wastages.
In order to successfully achieve targets set under the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs), the Pakistan government is following a
comprehensive strategy with focus on energy, security, water security
and food security. Pakistan government has given a boost to education
and health sectors by allocating huge amount for various scholarship
schemes and other key areas.
The awarding of Jinnah Scholarship for Sri Lanka O/A level students
amounting to Rs. 2000 month for a full academic year through Pakistan
High Commission in Sri Lanka, establishment of Pakistan Computer Centre,
Colombo with further four more similar projects in pipeline and
up-grading of Zia Hospital near Akurana, Kandy are just a few examples
of Pakistan social development projects in Sri Lanka of the continually
of the prudent economic policy under the dynamic leadership of President
General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
The Pakistan Computer Centre is a trilateral cooperation among the
Government of Pakistan, The All Ceylon YMMA Conference and the
Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.
Major Lalath Abeygoonawardene, Executive Director of the Vocational
Training Authority of Sri Lanka also graced this occasion. |
