NUWARA ELIYA: Collinwood Hotel opened its doors in 1992 with only four guest rooms in an old colonial building. The young D. G. Chaminda Kumara just after passing his Advanced Level examination followed the footsteps of his three brothers, who are leading hoteliers in Nuwara Eliya, and began Collinwood as a tourist hotel.

Young Chaminda Kumara knew that the location of Collinwood had so many plus points for tourists as it was built facing the famous Race Course, Gregory's Lake and the Golf Course at Nuwara Eliya, where he built eight more guest rooms and made Collinwood a Star Class hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

All guest rooms are equipped with modern facilities, which include hot water, TV, telephone, room service and laundry service.

All guest rooms at Collinwood are equipped with balconies which provide a breathtaking view of the misty clad Pedro mountain range, the 'Single Tree' mountain and the evergreen tea plantations while another plus point of the hotel is that every guest room is equipped with a sitting lounge and modern sofas where guests could sip a cool Nuwara Eliya beer while being absorbed in the natural beauty of "Lassana Lanka".

The restaurant at Collinwood can accommodate over 100 guests and offer western, eastern, Chinese and spicy Sri Lankan cuisine prepared by an expert chef Bandara Jayatilleke and his kitchen brigade. The restaurant also offers an A-la-carte menu and take-away.

The garden of Collinwood has been marvelously landscaped that it resembles a mini botanical garden. Rooms have been built in such a manner that guests get a panoramic view of Nuwara Eliya's mountains, lush green tea plantations and the sound of singing birds which surround "Little England".
