Circuit Race at Katukurunda

MOTOR SPORTS: Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club is making
arrangements to conduct a Circuit Race meet at the Katukurunda Motor
Racing track on Sunday June 25 commencing at 8 a.m.
This road race will be held under the sporting code of the Federation
of Motor Cycle Sports in Sri Lanka (for Motor Cycles) and the Sri Lanka
Automobile Sports (for Motor Cars) and the General Competition Rules of
the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club.
A total of 26 events including two formula car events will be worked
off. In all there will be 13 motor cycle events and 13 motor car events.
The official practices to arrive at the grid positions will be held
on Saturday, June 24.
Perhaps after a long lapse that the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club has
included formula car events into its programme. The two formula races
are Ford Formula 1,600 CC (pre 1985) and Ford Formula 1,600 CC (Post
1985).
In addition to this there will be also four one make events for cars
which will give fair chance to the racing drivers to pit their skills in
vehicles of the same make with equal capacity. For motor cycles there
will be three Super Motored events, which has been once again designed
to give the riders a fair chance.
Entries for this road race which has been titled Katukurunda Circuit
Meet 2006 will close on Friday, June 16th, 2006 at 482 Sir T. B. Jayah

Racing drivers should possess a valid Competition licence issued by
Sri Lanka Motor Sports (SLAS) and should not be under any suspension
from competition by any member club of the governing body.
Riders should be physically and mentally fit and must hold a valid
Riding Licence issued by the Registrar of Motor Traffic or a FIM
Competition License and be not under suspension from competition by any
member club. |
