Troops respond with limited strikes

SAMPUR: Soon after the LTTE carried out its barbaric act of killing 63 innocent civilians inside a fully packed bus in Kebithigollewa yesterday morning, Security Forces undertook deterrent measures to neutralise certain identified LTTE terrorist targets in Sampur and Mullaitivu areas.

Government Defence Affairs spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told the Daily News that Security Forces launched limited operations to deter further attacks by the LTTE.

According to military sources fighter jets of the Sri Lanka Air Force carried zeroed in on identified LTTE targets in Mullaitivu while ground troops carried out strikes on selected LTTE targets in Sampur.
