Cey-Nor wins ISO 9001

COLOMBO: The International Standards Certificate (ISO 9001)
was awarded to the fishing nets and fishing equipment produced by the
Cey-Nor foundation affiliated to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic
resources recently.
The Sri Lankan representative of the International Standard
Organisation (ISO) Sandra Pieterson handed over the certificate to
fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Felix Perera at a ceremony. The
ceremony took place at the Ministry auditorium attended by ISO officials
and Ministry staff. The Minister in return handed over the certificate
to Cey-Nor Foundation Chairman Rohan Jayasinghe.
The Minister speaking at the occasion hailed this as a significant
achievement adding that the recognition which they received with regards
to quality of their products would go a long way to boost the fishing
industry in Sri Lanka. The Minister paid a glowing tribute to all those
who contributed in this regard.
The relief Aid Organisation of Canada presented the Minister with 30
fishing boats worth Canadian Dollars 0.5 Million. The Minister thanking
the Organisation said he intended to distribute the boats among the
fishermen who lost their boats in the tsunami. |
