Data collection for ensuing budget

BUDGET: The National Budget Department is to send budget calls for Ministries and Government Departments at the end of this month for the 2007 budget.

Budget call is the initial step of the budget, which invites Ministries and Government Departments on their expenditure and project estimates for 2007 budget.

According to the National Budget Department, next year budget will focus on economic goals initiated by the Mahinda Chinthana which couldn't adopt in previous budget.

Ensuing budget will also focus attention to continue the on-going development projects. The next year budget will also specially consider on the human capital investments

The Officials of the department said when it comes to government expenditures they will strictly prevent additional allocations for the ministries and departments.

Ministries and departments need to do their project estimations with the clear understanding of the project objectives and with minimum additional allocations, he said. Department also expects to monitor the estimated funds of on-going projects - to see whether the funds are properly utilized.
