Serendib 2006 begins in UK
SENRENDIB 2006 Trade Exhibition the very first of its kind in the
United Kingdom will be held next week in London. "Refreshingly Sri
Lanka" the Sri Lankan cultural and Trade extravaganza begins on the 17
June, 2006.
Around 60 Sri Lankan Exporters will show case their products at
Serendib 2006. Apparel and Textiles, Gems and Jewellery, Food and Drink
Software and Solutions, Rubber Based Products, Giftware and Lifestyle
products will be at display during the three days of the exhibition.
There will be free a Seminar Programmes for visiting buyers, dealing
with the areas such as Accessing opportunities in the Asian market,
Ethical sourcing Developing joint ventures with Asian software Houses,
Developing partnerships with overseas Government Manufacturers, Out
sourcing for competitive Advantage, Communicating Cross cultures,
Flavour of Sri Lanka Tea Testing.
The Seminar programme will be sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom. The
Bank of Ceylon, People's Bank, MAS Holdings, Hatton National Bank, DFCC
and Tokyo Cement.
The exhibition and seminar is expected to attract 1000 visitors
during the three days. The event will provide Sri Lankan Companies with
a unique selling by opportunity by offering them one to one meetings
with key buyers and potential partners where they will have the
opportunity to present their products and services.
Chief secretary to the Treasury UK Stephen Timms will be the Chief
Guest at the inauguration of Serendib 2006 on the 21st Minister of
enterprise Development Rohitha Bogollagama and several Cabinet Ministers
of the Sri Lanka Government will participate for the inauguration.
UK is Sri Lanka's second largest export market with international
trade worth in excess of 5 US$ billion annually. Sri Lanka benefits from
unlimited quota access to all EU markets and its well established and
flexible business base has developed a hard earned reputation for
excellent quality and reliability.
The Investment Round Table organized by Common wealth Business
Council in Collaboration with the BOI and Sri Lanka High Commission in
UK and around 120 CEO's of UK Companies will particite. Minister of
Enterprise Development Rohitha Bogollagama will make the key note
address at the Investment Round Table. Stephen Timms Chief Secretary to
the Treasury, UK will be the Chief Guest.
Presentations will be made on the GSP+ Scheme and benefits of
Indo-Sri Lanka and Indo-Pakistan Free Trade Agreements followed by one
to one meetings. |
