Athletes start a busy season

The Junior National Athletics Championships will be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium on June 16, 17 and 18 with over 4,500 athletes from all over the country taking part.This will be a selection trial for the forthcoming Junior Asian Championships to be held in Beijing and the Youth Games in Qatar later this year.

Meanwhile the marathon, cycling and race walking events of the National Sports Festival will be held at Tangalle. The athletes for the South Asian Games will be selected from these events.

The road race will be run over a distance of 10 km for boys and 5 km for girls with a total of about 2,000 athletes participating.
