Five questions suitable only for LTTE - JVP
COLOMBO: The JVP yesterday said Erik Solheim should put forward their
five questions only to the LTTE as violations of the Ceasefire Agreement
and death threats to the lives of the SLMM monitors have been made only
by the LTTE.
"If Solheim expects a response on the part of the Sri Lankan
Government to the five questions, it indicates that Solheim is under the
impression that Sri Lanka is a Norwegian colony, " a media release
issued by the JVP said yesterday.
The JVP release said that they appreciate the stance taken by the
Government not to response to these five questions. "Sinhala, Tamil and
Muslim citizens of this country have a sole right to know the stand of
UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on this issue."
The statement issued by the LTTE in Oslo that the time for
self-determination has come clarifies the LTTE's stance. This indicates
that Norway and the LTTE have similar objectives, it said.
The release further said the truth has emerged. "We should understand
that a solutions to the country's national problem cannot be evolved by
conducting negotiations with Norwegians or the LTTE.
The Government should fulfil its responsibilities to safeguard the
sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. We urge the
patriotic Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim citizens to rally round to safeguard
the country from these separatist terrorists and other colonial
threats." |
