Malaysian investors eye Colombo Kandy express way
TRANSPORT: A Malaysian investment delegation will be in Sri Lanka
next week to study proposed Kandy - Colombo highway.
A Board of Investment official said the government is keen to start
construction of this 95-kilo meter this year.
One of the success stories of Malaysian economy is their highly
advanced highway network, which has attracted investors. "The Malaysian
government invited foreign investors to build roadways and charge a toll
to cover their investment. We want to adopt the same system in Sri
Lanka," he said. The project is expected to cost US 30 million US
dollars.
