Malaysian investors eye Colombo Kandy express way

TRANSPORT: A Malaysian investment delegation will be in Sri Lanka next week to study proposed Kandy - Colombo highway.

A Board of Investment official said the government is keen to start construction of this 95-kilo meter this year.

One of the success stories of Malaysian economy is their highly advanced highway network, which has attracted investors. "The Malaysian government invited foreign investors to build roadways and charge a toll to cover their investment. We want to adopt the same system in Sri Lanka," he said. The project is expected to cost US 30 million US dollars.
