COLOMBO: The late D. R. Wijewardene contributed enormously and
excellently to the progress of this coutnry and its peole, by founding a
national printing institution like the Lake House, and by pioneering a
series of national and religious services, said Ven. Kotuwewa
Indrasumana Thera, the incumbent monk of the Sri Sambuddhaloka Viharaya,
Colombo Fort.
The venerable priest made this observation when he conducted the 56th
D. R. Wijewardene Memorial Religious Ceremony at Sri Sambuddhaloka
Viharaya, under the auspieces of Lake House Chairman Anil Obeysekere,
PC, yesterday.
The late D. R. Wijewardene in addition to his religious and national
services made it a point never to forget the native temple.
He had a correct vision of many religious and national activities he
fostered. Moral conduct is of paramount importance to an individual. The
late D. R. Wijewardene rendered his services to the country in
conformity with the teachings of the Buddha, said Ven. Indrasumana Thera.
