It was a great tragedy that his house was partly damaged by the
tsunami catastrophe. He has never been to a recognised art school due to
his indigent circumstances. However, he is a born artist and his
creative knowledge is a great asset to the country.
Upali said he was encouraged to develop his artistic skills, by Upali
Rajapaksa Deputy Principal of Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, Wadduwa.
His sculptures are made of scrap metal, put together, while his
embossed works are turned out depicting traditional styles in art.
"Drawing book covers is another pastime," Chaturanga said. |
