Minister to solve migrant workers' problems
COLOMBO: Acting Minister of Labour Relations and Foreign Employment
Mervyn Silva has reserved Tuesday of every week as public day to meet
migrant workers at the Ministry office to hear their complaints and
resolve their job problems.
A press release issued by the Labour Relations and Foreign Employment
Ministry said there have been constant complaints about harassments and
difficulties encountered by Sri Lankan expatriate workers. Due to lack
of knowledge among some of these workers certain interested parties
tried to make political capital by making use of these incidents a cats
paw.
The Acting Minister who looked into this matter decided to meet
migrant workers or their families personally at his Ministry and find
prompt solutions to their problems.
He has reserved Tuesday of every week for this purpose and requested
migrant workers having problems to bring their problems to him as he
will be available at his Ministry from 9 a.m. |
