School sessions from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. from June 19

COLOMBO: All schools have been advised to start daily sessions at 7.30 a.m. and conclude at 1.30 p.m. from June 19, according to an Education Ministry circular.

Muslim schools have been advised to open at 7.30 a.m. and close at 2.00 p.m. except on Fridays.

Muslim schools have been instructed to close at 11.30 a.m. on Friday.

Schools have been given the option to alter the opening time according to the climatic conditions prevailing in the region.

The decision to alter the time should be taken by a committee headed by the Provincial Director of Education ensuring that the school session has a duration of six hours, the circular has stated.

Public servants office times will be from 8.30 a.m. to 4.15 p.m.
