All communities should strengthen President's hands

DERANIYAGALA: In recent times Sri Lanka is experiencing Violence and other Anti-Social activities, especially in North and East. The way to curb this is to maintain Peace and Consolation among all Communities, in particular the LTTE.

Unless the deep-rooted hatred and violence is transformed into forgiveness and re-conciliation, Peace cannot be achieved. This is the only way Sri Lankans could expect a consolidated society and economic development, said Yatiyantota Pradesiya Sabaha UPFA Member and Galle District Tamil Unit Organiser A. Sathiyanathan at a meeting at Sapumalkande Tamil Vidyalayam which followed the Opening of a new wing for the school with funds provided by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council. Estate workers who form the back-bone of the Nation should follow the Policy of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and avoid conflicts.

They should strive to live is harmony with other Communities. Most of their neighbours or close associates are Sinhalese. Sathiyanathan said if all Communities are united and strengthen the hands of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, they could have a vision of contended living void of conflicts in the future. This example should be followed by the LTTE accepting Democracy.

They should lay down arms and attend the negotiating table, in which they could air their grievances without resorting to Violence. The President is for Peace and it is the responsibility of the LTTE to respond to his call, by attending the Peace Talks.

He said there are certain Plantation leaders who mislead estate workers for their personal glory. The estate workers, he warned should not fall prey to these Leaders or Politicians, he said.
