SMS balance for Seylan Traveller's cardholders

NEW SERVICE: Seylan Bank has introduced a SMS balance service for Seylan Traveller's Card.

The usage of travellers cheques (TC) is now reducing mainly due to its limited acceptance in some countries and in shops and department stores.

"This was why the Seylan Traveller's Card was introduced last year as a replacement to the TC and it is gaining in popularity. This was the main reason the bank decided to add this new features," Deputy General Manager Seylan Card center, Tissa Nanayakkara said.

A Traveller's Card can be obtained over the counter after showing valid travel documents with a minimum deposit of US $ 100 and the card can be used in teller machines all-over the world and it can be used in shops as well. "It is basically a visa card which can be obtained without any red tape and the bank does not charge a fee to process the card," he said.

Another advantage would be that the card could be reloaded at any time and the validity of the card is six years. The card would also provide an automatic insurance cover for US $ 1,000.
