Ranaviru commemorative programme organised

COLOMBO: The Ranaviru Seva Authority has taken steps to organize the Ranaviru Commemorative Programme from June 1 to 7 as a salutation to the War heroes who dedicated their lives to safeguard the Motherland's independence, unity and territorial integrity, announces a media release by the Government Information Department.

The first flag in commemoration of the Heroes' Week will be pinned on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on June 1. The messages of the President, the Prime Minister and other distinguished persons in felicitation of the War Heroes will be announced thereafter.

Media coverage to various programmes to be held islandwide including the propagation of short accounts in appreciation of the services rendered by the three Armed Forces and the Police is earnestly solicited during this period, states an Information Department media release.
