Officer, soldier killed

VAVUNIYA: An officer and a soldier were killed yesterday morning when the LTTE opened fire at the Forward Defence Line (FDL) in Marathmadu Omanthai, Vavuniya. Military sources said the LTTE cadre had taken cover in uncleared areas when he opened fire.

The officer and the solider were rushed to the Marathamadu hospital, but both succumbed to their injuries.

The officer was identified as Lt. K.A.A.S. Koddithuwakku.
