UNP appeal: SC refuses special leave
THE Supreme Court yesterday upholding the judgment of
the Court of Appeal refused to grant Special Leave to proceed with an
appeal by the UNP challenging the judgment that refused to order the
Election Commissioner to accept the party's nomination list for the
Colombo Municipality for the Local Authorities Election scheduled for
May 20.

Private Medical Bill before House on May 10
THE Private Medical Institutions Bill will be
presented to Parliament on May 10 by Healthcare and Nutrition Minister
Nimal Siripala de Silva to give more teeth to the private medical sector
to perform better and enhance private health care delivery systems in
