Seylan Bank looking for sweet revenge
CRICKET: Seylan Bank 'C' will be looking for sweet revenge when they
take on the confident, John Keells Group 'B' in the final of the TVS Cup
- MCA Division 'C' 50 overs league tournament, this Sunday, 7th May, at
the Bloomfield Grounds, commencing 10.00 am.
Both finalists played alongside Group 'A' during the league and
J.Keells had the better exchanges in their league outing, beating the
bankers by 03 wickets on 14th March at the BRC Grounds.
At the completion of the round-robin stage, J. Keells and Seylan
finished with equal points (16 points each) with four wins a piece, but
the former on their virtue of their league result going in their favour
was placed on top of the table.
The other wins for John Keells were against SriLankan Airlines by 03
wickets, Access Group by 17-runs and J.L. Morison by 58-runs, but lost
to Stafford Motors by 33 runs.
Seylan in turn, beat Access Group by 13 runs, Stafford Motors by 6
wickets, J.L. Morison by 2 wickets and SriLankan Airlines by 24 runs.
In the 2nd Stage of the tournament, John Keells performed
brilliantly, beating Metropolitan Group by 162 runs in the
quarter-finals and Access Group by 104 runs in the semi-finals. Seylan
Bank too came up with a matching performance beating the strong HNB 'C'
team by 4 wickets and crushing J.L. Morison by 9 wickets.
Both teams are led by two solid all rounders, Suranga Lokubalasuriya
(John Keells) and Lasith Fernando (Seylan).
