Garment industry training course in May - June
COURSE: A production and quality management training course for the
garment industry organised by the Association for Overseas Technical
Scholarship (AOTS) Japan in co-operation with Japan-Sri Lanka Technical
and Cultural Association (JASTECA) Pegasus Sewing Machine Pte. Ltd.,
Singapore, Lapp Trading (Ceylon) Ltd and Dateline Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, will
be held from May 22 to 26 in Colombo (Sasakawa Hall) and from May 29 to
June 2 at the Earl's Regency Hotel, Kandy.
The course is for senior and middle managers of garment factories and
the course content would cover production control, method of operation
analysis, process analysis, production system and plant layout,
introduction of PUB (Pegasus U-shape Bundle system), labour saving
device and latest technology of sewing machine.
Training Courses will be conducted by four Japanese instructors from
Pegasus Sewing Machine Mfg Co Ltd..Japan, The number of participants
will be limited to 50 in Colombo and 50 in Kandy.
Closing date for applications will be May 5 and application forms
could be obtained from The Administrative Manager at JASTECA office.
"Realising the need for transfer of know-how in order that the
Garment Manufacturers reap the maximum benefits made available by the
high tech high speed machines, as out-lined above AOTS, JASTECA, and
Pegasus together with Lapp Trading organised the first training
programme in July 2003 in which a total of hundred participants took
part both in Colombo and in Kandy" JASTECA vice president Premalal
Fernando said.
The success in achieving the expected benefits by garment
manufacturers has motivated the organisers to hold this second training
programme.
This training course in the production and quality management by the
Association for overseas Technical Scholarships (AOTS) of Japan and
implemented by Pegasus Sewing Machines Manufacturing Company Limited
Japan, and Pegasus Sewing Machines Pte. Singapore in co-operation with
Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) as a very
valuable step.
Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) was
established in 1984, as the Sri Lanka Alumni of the Association for
Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) Japan and consists of returned
trainees who have volunteered to help in the transference of Japanese
technology to Sri Lanka and promote the development of human resources
in our country.
During the last 20 years, with the assistance of AOTS Japan, JASTECA
have trained over 2500 in Japan on varied areas of technology and
management disciplines.
Some of the sectors covered under these training programmes include
entrepreneurship, quality control, production management and a host of
other areas of management.
JASTECA has also trained over 100 entrepreneurs from the garment
industry, 75 plantation managers, 50 from the banking fraternity.
In addition JASTECA has trained over 5000 in Sri Lanka through
seminars, lectures and workshops conducted in the country. |
