Woman soldier succumbs to injuries

COLOMBO: Corporal Sithara Gunatilleke who was also seriously injured following the woman LTTE suicide bomber's attack on the Army Commander on Tuesday died yesterday at the Colombo national Hospital.

Corp. Gunatilleke is the 10th person to die following the attack. Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Namal Balalle yesterday visited the Colombo National Hospital and examined the body of Corp Gunatilleke and directed the CID to hand over her body to the relatives.

He directed the CID to conduct investigations and arrest the suspects involved in the attack and produce them before court.

Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka was seriously injured and several of his body guards were killed in the attack by a woman LTTE suicide bomber on Tuesday in the high security zone at the Army Headquarters.
