MANNAR: Army Major H.M.S. Herath, in charge of security forces stationed in one of the sectors in Mannar, has complained to the Army and police that he has received direct death threats from the LTTE.

Major Herath said in his complaint that he had earned the LTTE wrath for arresting suspected LTTE cadres and preventing the transport of prohibited goods to the North while he served in the Omantha area.

Major Herath said following his complaint, the Army has advised him to take additional security precautions for his personal safety.
