First Lady opens flower show

NUWARA ELIYA: The First Lady Shiranti Rajapaksa opened the
Traditional Flower Show at Victoria Park, with all pomp and pageantry,
organised by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council.
APRIL FLOWER SHOW: First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa who opened the
‘April Flower Show’ in Nuwara Eliya organised by the Nuwara Eliya
Municipal Council on Thursday viewing some of the exotic flowers
after the opening ceremony. Estate Infrastructure and Livestock
Minister C.B. Ratnayake, Central Province Governor Tikiri
Kobbekaduwa and Nuwara Eliya Mayor Chandana Lal Karunaratne were
also present. -

This exhibition comprises an array of exotic flowers grown and
exhibited by both the residents and other commercial establishments
here.
The Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, who was the guest
of honour spelled out President Rajapaksa's determined efforts to make
Nuwara Eliya a tourist resort of international fame with the assistance
of the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council and other related agencies in the
country.
He said that the flowers which were displayed should get into the
hearts of the masses, and work towards the unity and prosperity of the
country.
Mayor Chandanalal Karunaratne, who welcomed the large gathering and
the distinguished visitors, said that Nuwara Eliya which had figured as
the premier flower growing and horticulturist resort will embark on
these profitable ventures.
He said that the desire of his Municipal Council was to see that
Nuwara Eliya's city and its suburbs continue to figure as a tourist
resort of world fame, and for the benefit of the residents here.
