GTZ aid for technical education
COLOMBO: The German Technical Co-operation Organisation (GTZ)
has offered Euro 12 million (Rs. 144 million) to uplift Technical
Education and Human Resources Development in Sri Lanka.
Of this sum, Euro 2 million (Rs. 24 million) is meant for the
implementation of the first stage of the proposed National Institute of
Applied Advanced Technologly (NIAAT) which will be the training ground
for entrants to the Vocational Technical University, while Euro 10
million (Rs. 24 million) is to be utilised to provide equipment and
human and physical resources to 11 technical colleges devastated by the
tsunami throughout the island.
The Memorandum of Understanding pertaining for this aid programme was
signed by Vocational and Technical Training Ministry Secretary Thilak
Hapangama and Dr. Roland Stuerer of the GTZ organisation recently. |
